Get A Permanent Email Address
Permanent email addresses are a must for anyone who uses the Internet. A permanent email address is an address that is not dependent upon your current Internet service provider, school or job. I have two permanent email addresses, one from yahoo.com and one from my personal website. I signed up for the yahoo.com account back in 1997, and I set up my personal website with email back in 2002. Since 1997 I have moved and had multiple physical addresses, telephone numbers, Internet service providers, attended different schools and held jobs at different companies. One thing remained constant: I kept my personal email restricted to my permanent email accounts.
Over the years I have given friends my permanent email addresses, and been able to keep in touch with them long after graduating from school or moving to another city. Over the years the amount of spam that I receive has increased, but the spam filters provided by yahoo.com and my website hosting service provider have been able to keep spam from filling up my inbox.
There are numerous free service providers that willingly allow you to sign up for email, such as http://www.hotmail.com, http://mail.google.com, or http://mail.yahoo.com. Before signing up for a free email account, be sure to read and agree to the company's Terms of Service policy. Another option is to register an available domain name and find a hosting provider which provides email accounts for your domain for a monthly or yearly fee.
Establishing a permanent email address allows you the freedom to switch Internet service providers, jobs, schools, etc. without losing contact with friends and family.
